Dún Laoghaire

The fort is said to have been Lóegaire's sea base for raiding Britain and Gaul. The town as it stands was built after 1816 legislation allowed a great harbour to serve Dublin. It was renamed Kingstown in 1821 when George IV sailed from it, and took its own name back in August 1920.
