Born at Loughcrew in Meath in 1625 and Archbishop of Armagh through the worst of the Penal era. Convicted of treason on perjured evidence in the hysteria of the Popish Plot, he was hanged, drawn and quartered at Tyburn in 1681 — the last Catholic martyr to die there. He was canonised in 1975; his head is displayed at St Peter's Church in Drogheda.
