Tubbercurry
'well of the cauldron'
At the foot of the Ox Mountains on the road south from Sligo, and a town that holds one of the best-known weeks of traditional music in the west every summer.
Tubbercurry first appears in the record in 1397, when two branches of the O'Connors, the O'Conor Don of Roscommon and the O'Conor Sligo, fought a battle in the town. Its patron saints are St Naithí and St Attracta. The Wikipedia article says little more about its history.
