Born around 640 in Mullagh, County Cavan, he left for the Continent and preached in Franconia, where he was murdered about 689 with his companions Colman and Totnan for telling a duke that his marriage was unlawful. He is patron of Würzburg, whose cathedral bears his name and whose July Kiliani festival still fills the city.
