Founder of Tuam. According to the medieval Lives of St Brendan, he was told to drive his chariot until a wheel broke and build his church where it stopped; he got as far as Tuam — which became the ecclesiastical capital of Connacht and remains an archbishopric. His feast is kept on 6 June, the day his relics were moved to a church beside Tuam Cathedral; the old martyrologies give 25 or 26 December.
