A prince of the Cenél Conaill who founded Derry and then, tradition says, went into exile after a battle fought over a copied psalter — the world's first copyright dispute, settled with the judgment 'to every cow its calf, to every book its copy'. On Iona he built the monastery that converted Pictland and Northumbria and probably produced the Book of Kells.
