Ciarán of Clonmacnoise — St Ciarán of Clonmacnoise

A carpenter's son who founded Clonmacnoise where the Shannon crosses the great esker road, the crossroads of Ireland, and died of plague at thirty-three, months after laying the first stone. The city he began outlived him by a thousand years and buried the kings of Connacht and Tara.
