Of Aghaboe and Kilkenny. A friend and contemporary of Colmcille who travelled with him to the Pictish court. Kilkenny (Cill Chainnigh, 'Canice's church') is named for him, as is its cathedral, and Aghaboe in Laois was his chief foundation.
