Girl's name

Clodagh

“KLOH-da”

from the River Clodiagh in Waterford

The story behind the name

One of the few Irish names that began as a river and became a person rather than the other way round. Lady Clodagh Anson, daughter of the 5th Marquess of Waterford, was named after the Clodiagh, which runs through the family estate at Curraghmore, and the name spread from her.
