Athracht

“AH-rakht”

the name of a Sligo saint

Attracta
Why it is said that way

The th is an h and the cht is a loch sound followed by a t: AH-rakht.

  • th → h — never the English th
  • ch → the back-of-the-throat sound in loch — not ch as in church
