The Tomb Builders

Around 4000 BC farming arrives by boat, bringing cattle, wheat and polished stone axes. It changes everything. Forests come down for fields, and at Céide in Mayo an entire walled farm landscape is laid out. Then the farmers begin building for their dead on a scale Europe has rarely seen: Carrowmore, Loughcrew, and about 3200 BC the great solstice tomb at Newgrange.
