The story behind the name

In the medieval legends of the Milesian invasion, Érimón son of Míl is one of the chieftains who took Ireland from the Tuatha Dé Danann and one of the first Milesian high kings. That is legend, not history. Woulfe found the name still in use on Cape Clear Island, where it was pronounced Eireamhán.

Meanings follow Ó Corráin & Maguire's Irish Names and Woulfe; pronunciations give the commonest Irish-English form. Know this name better — a dialect pronunciation, a family tradition? Tell us. · All Irish names A–Z
